Who Signs Your Build Record

Four people work here. Three of them build clubs, and their initials go on the bottom of your sheet. There is nobody on commission.

Founder, lead builder

Reuben Alcott

Nine years behind a retail counter before he got tired of selling clubs he was not allowed to measure. Opened the Wirt Road bench in 2009. Handles driver and fairway work, and signs off on any build that lands near the edge of the tolerance window. Plays a stiff, heavy shaft he would not recommend to anyone else.

On the bench: Driver, fairway woods, final sign-off

Iron and wedge bench

Thea Nakamura

Came out of a machine shop rather than a pro shop, which shows in how she treats a tolerance. Runs the iron and wedge sessions and rebuilt our gapping method around carry medians instead of averages. Spends more time on sole geometry than anyone else here and will happily explain why for twenty minutes.

On the bench: Irons, wedges, gapping tables

Putter and short game

Devon Cauthen

Former assistant professional who moved to the bench after a wrist injury. Runs everything on the indoor surface: aim bias, stroke arc, shaft lean and roll behaviour in the first eighteen inches. Also the person who tells most players their putter is two inches too long.

On the bench: Putters, aim and roll, junior fitting

Counter and records

Marisol Ontiveros

Keeps the filing cabinet honest. Books the sessions, orders the components, chases the suppliers who are late, and pulls old records when someone breaks a shaft on a cart path. If you called the shop, you spoke to her. She has never played eighteen holes and is faster at finding a build from 2016 than anyone else on staff.

On the bench: Scheduling, component orders, build archive

How we work

One Builder Owns Your Club Start to Finish

Whoever runs your session builds your club. It does not get handed to a back room and it does not get split across two people on different days. That is partly quality control and partly accountability — if a spec comes out wrong, there is exactly one person to ask.

The exception is final sign-off. Anything that lands near the edge of our tolerance window gets a second set of eyes before it is released, and both sets of initials end up on the sheet.

Training We Actually Did

  • Component manufacturer build schools, three of them
  • Loft and lie machine certification, renewed on schedule
  • Launch monitor calibration training, annually
  • Two of us hold current club repair technician credentials

We list these because people ask, not because a certificate makes a club straighter. The machine and the paperwork do that.

Book With a Name, Not a Queue

Tell us which club is the problem and we will put you with whoever spends the most bench time on it.
